Editing is an essential part of the writing process. Whether you are writing something as simple as a love letter, or as complex as a novel, every writer takes a moment or two to make sure the words that were in their mind came out as they visualized.

Most authors will tell you they write out of love for what they do. When you love something, it can be difficult to be critical of it. Sometimes, it can be hard to see what is on the page, and not what is in your head. This is where an editor comes in. Editors look at only what is written, and make sure it is the best possible version of what they see, without the hopes and dreams for it, that the author holds in their heart.

Each author has their own writing process. No two are the same. Some authors have the ability to shift modes in their heads from author to editor. To those authors, I applaud you. But for those authors that don’t have that ability, editors are indispensable.

In today’s world, self-publishing is common and economical for many authors. If you are self-publishing, you should still have access to the same help mainstream authors have with major publishing houses, in order to produce the best work you can. The reading public appreciates a flawless product. It is for this reason Elliott Editing was created.
